NATURE AND ADVENTURE “Time in nature is not leisure time; it’s an essential investment in our chidlren’s health (and also, by the way, in our own).” (Richard Louv). When EQ team members share outdoor adventure with children it is therapeutic and educational for everyone involves. The special needs of the children we work with are no barrier to adventure. Read more	WORLD OF COLOUR “Respect your fellow human beings, treat them fairly, disagree with them honestly, enjoy their friendship, explore your thoughts about one another candidly, work together for a common goal and help one another achieve it.” (Bill Bradley) The children we work with are in the process of forming values. We help them place Tolerance and Compassion at the top of the list. Read more	COMMUNITY ACTION “Every successful individual knows that his or her achievement depends on a community of persons working together.” (Paul Ryan) To achieve success when providing social services for children and families, we engage with our professional peers and decision makers on national and international levels. SHARING LEARNING “We learn by example and by direct experience because there are limits to the adequacy of verbal instruction.” (Malcolm Gladwell). EQ believes that an attachment to outcomes discourages the experimentation through which children learn about themselves and reveal their talents. EQ educators facilitate learning through dynamic engagement and avoid instruction. We also believe that if anything is worth learning, it should be presented in children in multiple ways. Read more	SHARING IDENTITY “If there is one thing that all children have in common, it is the fact that they are all different for one another.” (David Bisset) We work with children at risk. Commonly, they are educationally disadvantaged and their behaviour is challenging. These children are differentiated just as much by the way their brains work as they are by ethnicity or cultural background. We help them to accept and support each other. Our supporters don’t believe in the things that we do, they believe in the reason WHY we do these things.
