Have you ever had someone thank you for giving them the opportunity to do a good deed? It happened to us. And it is one of those encounters that leaves a lasting impression.
Our special friend, Lilia Goranova, donated all proceeds from her first book, The Thief, to the children and young people living at the Pink House Residential Care Centre.
It is difficult to describe Lilia in just a few words. She is a remarkably talented person with an inspiring life story. Born in Ruse, Bulgaria, she graduated from the English Language High School and later from the University of Ruse. Her personal and professional journey continued in Sofia, where she spent many years leading a large Swedish company in the industrial products sector. Throughout her life, she has also pursued a variety of artistic interests, including singing, pantomime and painting, reflecting her rich creative spirit.
On 5 June 2026, Lilia presented her book The Thief at the library of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse. The novel raises thought-provoking questions about good and evil, personal choices and human values.
During our meeting at the Pink House on 7 June 2026, we learned that supporting disadvantaged children has long been close to her heart. This is far from the first time she has reached out to help children and young people in need.
Lilia, together with her husband and friends Milena Popova and Margarita Trifonova, brought joy, warmth and smiles to everyone at the centre. The most touching moment was the presentation of a donation cheque for €1,805, which will help provide a meaningful holiday experience and memorable moments for the children and young people with disabilities living at the Pink House.
