The information centre Europe Direct has had a long association with EQ and during 2015 this partnership provided a number of opportunities for our personnel and the children we work with.
The summer programme for the young clients from the cente for street children included a project called “Young Europeans” that involved collaboration with Europe Direct. Children took part in a number of competitions and we are grateful for the gifts of child-oriented literature on European integration and textbooks.
During December, at the invitation of Europe Direct, Krassimira Dimiva, a member of the EQ team visited Brussels together with working partners from Arena Media and teachers and journalists who are concerned with social issues.
Krassi took part in a thematic working group organized by the European Parliament which covered social issues that have pressing significance for member states. This event explored development plans and time-frames for the implementation of European projects during the new programming period plus other issues such as demographic problems and financial strictures.
The group was welcomed by the Bulgarian economist , Kristalina Georgieva who serves as Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources.
