On June 26, 2025, Galya Bisset, Executive Director of Equilibrium, participated in the AccessibleEU Bulgaria: Capacity Development and Training for Accessibility event at the invitation of the Institute for Community Social Services.
The main highlights of Equilibrium’s presentation ‘Creative Parenting – How to make early childhood learning and development accessible’ were:
– Presentation of Equilibrium’s film ‘Creative Parenting’
– Model of Playgroups in Roma neighbourhoods – accessibility in time, place, content and finances
– Training through joint interactive activities between children and parents
Galya presented the Playgroups model for children and parents in the three Roma neighbourhoods in Ruse, implemented over the years by the teams of the Centre for Social Support. This is an approach to educating parents from marginalized communities on early childhood development topics. Accessibility was considered as: convenient time and place for the participants; cognitive accessibility – demonstration through joint interactive activities of children and parents (experiential learning; joint play) and financial accessibility – how to stimulate their children’s development with materials that can be found for free or are household items. An element of the Equilibrium model is the booklet ‘Mother and Child Personal Diary’, which can be found at the following link: https://eq-bg.org/bg/litchen-dnevnik-na-maykata-i-deteto/
