Participation in the exhibition “Taste the Balkans”, held on 6,7 and 8 November in “Inter Expo Centre” in Sofia, Association” allowed Equilibrium and our working partners Open Society Club – Ruse to launch a new charity campaign “Turn good intentions into action”.
We were invited to participate in the international exhibition by the Bulgarian organization Slow Food and we take this opportunity to say a very big Thank you to Desislava Dimitrova (chairperson) and Tsvetan Dimitrov.
Our products ranged from crafts made by young clients, volunteers, foster parents and supporters of EQ to aromatic herbs many of which were picked by the clients of Ruse’s complex of social services and the disabled youngsters we care for at the Pink House. They provided an unexpected addition to our host’s range of traditional foods and provoked a warm and generous response from visitors to the exhibition as demonstrated by the amount raised.
We also expect that a new range of contacts will lead to joint ventures and fruitful partnerships.
As Christmas approaches, the charity campaign is gathering momentum with a large contribution being made by students from a number of local schools who are learning how to act as social entrepreneurs and fundraisers by taking part in our informal training programme which is now in its second year.
A large range of gifts are on permanent display at Equilibrium’s new office at 5 Dobrudja Street (directly opposite the Buddha House).
