The Complex for Social Support for Children and Families (CSSCF) in Ruse, managed by Equilibrium, has reached its 18th birthday!

18 years of confidence that children feel best and loved in their own families.

18 years of always believing for the best and having a great love for children!

Behind it all are professionals who with heart and soul make childhood happier, parents more confident and the future better!

On 03.10.2023 the three teams – the Community Support Centre, the Centre for work with street children and the family-type centre “The Pink House” sent their positive messages and wishes on the improvised board for health, success, prosperity for children and families and shared, as tradition dictates, a wonderful cake.

The Ruse complex was one of the first in the country, opened in 2005 under the World Bank project “Reform for the Welfare of Children in Bulgaria”. Since then, under the management of Equilibrium, the Ruse CSCS has gradually established its international profile by participating in forums and providing expert advice, as well as consulting and supporting the development of similar services in Ukraine, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Kyrgyzstan and Mexico. Our contributions have focused on deinstitutionalisation and the development of integrated childcare and family support services and alternative family care.

Equilibrium’s work through various programs with the complex as the hub of our operations establishes the organization and the Ruse Complex as a national leader in guaranteeing and implementing children’s rights and child participation.  Equilibrium’s integrated practice takes full account of children’s right to participate in and influence decisions and actions made on their behalf.

By means of the inclusion of the complex as one of the 9 best practices in Europe in 2010 by the international network known as COPORE (Competencies for Poverty Reduction) and included as an article with the title “Establishing a centre for best practice in integrated social service provision”, Equilibrium’s model was disseminated in 27 countries (mostly in Europe). This, in turn, led  to participation in a major conference at the Palace of Culture in Sofia on best practices in deinstitutionalization.

To this day, the complex is an emblem for the provision of social services of the highest quality. We thank the whole team and all our colleagues, donors and supporters for contributing to our sustained success.
