givehope (1)Charity concert – “Give hope” – in support of the young clients of Ruse social services complex raised 390 leva towards the cost of the 32014 summer camp.

On April 1st, teenage heavy metal bands, “Anekdot” and “Power Enslave”, wowed their fans at the bowling club in Mall Ruse. More than 100 teenage aficionados of hard rock (and one or two older fans who refuse to grow up) supported the charity initiative organized entirely by volunteers.

Nia, a student at the Professional School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics in Ruse and Ralitza, a student at the “Vazrajdane” School were the main organizers.

The two girls were fully supported by the EQ team and the event definitely merited the presentation of special certificates for dynamic young social entrepreneurs.

Further awards were given to the young musicians and the proprietors of the club who not only provided the venue, but also donated 50% of their bar profits from the evening.

The money raised from the concert provide the final instalment needed to fund this year’s camp for young clients who had also done their bit to contribute to the event by making charm bracelets and April Fools jokes that were given to audience members.

Nia opened the event with the following words:

“I’m glad to know these children and that everyone here will do something much more significant than simply come to watch a concert. We’re making ourselves better people – responsive to what is happening around us and more sensitive to the lives of others.”
