At the end of June, 2016 Equilibrium took over the administration of two services in Byala – the centre for social rehabilitation and integration and the centre for family type accommodation for children and young adults. There is a reason why we use the symbol of a “ white swallow” as the logo as they are the first social services for children in Byala municipality.

We celebrated our first anniversary with team members from both services, guests from the Child Protection Department and the Children’s Pedagogical Room, Byala as well as the children from the small-group home. We have overcome a lot of difficulties and challenges and many more are ahead of us but we were very successful, too. The most important is the progress in the development and behavior of the children. They presented it with their own stories in the form of presentations with lots of pictures from trips, summer camps, things that  they like doing and the new achievements and lessons they have learnt during the period. It is not irrelevant that the teams in both services comprise of young motivated experts who are full of ideas and passion to achieve their goals.

Special guests of the event were our friends from the Roma foundation “Iskra”, Shumen and the hip-hop singer from Ruse – Zvezdomir Donev – Zvezdaka.

 The children from the centre sang, danced and had fun together with the guests. The most important thing for them was the presence of their relatives and close friends at the celebration who heard about their successes and achievements. Tears of joy and pride shone in their eyes.

Everyone had the chance to taste the wonderful cake served at the end of the event.

We are working on a new film about the life of the children in the small-group home.
